Important Notices

Supervision Leading to Registration (Supervision 2000 Scheme) - The Supervision 2000 Scheme via the New Zealand Psychological Society is currently on hold.  No further applicants are being received by the Society at this time.  The Board is considering options as a matter of urgency and any developments will be posted on the website.

APC Update - 2005-2006 APCs were posted in bulk on 22 March 2005.  If you wish to practice as a psychologist you need an APC to do so legally.  If you have not got an APC for the 2005-2006 year, please download an APC Application form and send it in to Bill King (click here). Please note:  Anyone who has submitted an APC application (and the fee) is deemed to be the holder of that APC from the date when the Board receives the application until the date it is issued.

Scopes of Practice & Use of Titles - All Registered Psychologists are reminded that the titles "Clinical Psychologist" and "Educational Psychologist" can now only be used by persons who hold those vocational scopes of practice.  Use of these titles is meant to assist members of the public to access Psychologists who have certain competencies.

Psychologists with the appropriate qualifications can apply for a Vocational Scope of Practice by downloading a copy of the Vocational Scope of Practice Application Form - click on the Application Forms link above.  Applications will be processed in the order they are received.  For further information click on the "Scopes of Practice & Qualifications" link above under the "How to Register" section. Applying under the grand-parenting route requires completion of the Vocational Scopes of Practice Application form.

A Note of Clarification: Psychologists who hold a vocational scope of practice are also deemed to hold the general scope.  They can ethically practice in any area of psychology in which they are competent to practice.  Vocational scopes do not limit practice - competency does.  Vocational scopes assure members of the public that a practitioner has attained and maintains certain competencies.
